The history of food stands as a high interesting topic among students and scholars alike. Not much is known about the types of foods Romans enjoyed, however a cookbook survives containing a small glimpse into the culinary world of the ancient Roman empire. Three dishes in particular stand out as delicious and health conscience to the modern nutritionist. The first course of the Roman Coena (a very elaborate mealtime) is called Gustatio.
